SOGANG UNIVERSITY

Korean for General Purpose 200 / KGP 200 (10 weeks/200 hours)

The main program of the Sogang KLEC focuses on improving the ability to communicate. The four hours of class per day is evenly split between listening, reading, writing and speaking.

With three teachers are assigned per class, classes are much more engaging and interesting.

Korean for Academic Purpose / KAP 200 (10 weeks/200 hours)

This course was created for students who are intending to seek admission to undergraduate or graduate university programs in South Korea.

In comparison to KGP200, this course is designed to facilitate the natural acquisition of the necessary grammar, vocabulary, writing skills, knowledge of Korean culture, and other useful information through the study of academic subjects.

Every class is broken down into an hour of writing, two hours of speaking practice and one hour of reading and listening practice.

Four sessions per year (Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter)

Free TOPIK preparation classes to help students prepare for the examination
Free pronunciation classes (10 hours) provided for students to improve understanding and accuracy of pronunciation. Students in levels 1 and 2 are required to attend.
A writing course teaching students how to write a self-introduction letter (as part of the application for undergraduate and graduate programs in Korea) is offered.
There are scholarships for the top student of each class and top student of each level overall.

This course is designed for students who do not have time to study in the morning or afternoon.

The course particularly reflects the demand of students who are working in Korea or are exchange students; it hence includes language that is frequently used in the workplace and in schools to help these students achieve their goals.

Compared to KGP200 and KAP 200, this course is light, enjoyable, engaging and helpful to students.

The classroom environment is optimized for learning how to speak, as it includes students from a variety of countries and is activity-based.

Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays (3 days a week) from 6.50PM – 8.50PM
Every Monday and Tuesday are reserved for speaking practice, and Thursday will be evenly split between reading and listening practice.

This course uses online news, print news, literature and other real-life materials.

Students are able to push their Korean to an advanced level through research, debates and presentations on Korean culture and contemporary Korean society.

Course materials change every session to match the interests and specialized fields of the students.

Every Monday to Thursday is split amongst writing, media reading and speaking, watching video materials (dramas, movies and documentaries), and reading literature and publications about Korean culture.
Level 7 ; An average score of 70% or above is required for all subjects and the final exam.

YONSEI UNIVERSITY

Every semester, around 1,600 people from 60 different countries study at the KLI, and the majority of these people enroll in the Regular Program. Through the program, students will learn cultural information needed for the successful application of Korean.

The University Korean Language Program is designed for foreign students who are either currently enrolled in a Korean university or are planning on applying to a Korean university. This course aims to cultivate the high level of Korean ability necessary for studying at a Korean university by focusing on content related to university life as well as university courses and lectures. Through this course, students will be able to acquire the Korean language skills necessary for preparing to enter a Korean university in a short period of time.

Advanced program (10 weeks/100 hours)

The Advanced Program is organized for students who have graduated from KLI. The students who attend these classes will study all fields of Korea and the Korean language. The course is only offered when 5 or more students register for the course.

Monday to Friday
Morning Class: 11:10AM – 1PM
Afternoon Class: 2PM – 3:50PM

Evening Program (10 weeks/90 hours)

The Evening Program is designed for diplomats, professors, businessmen, bankers and anyone who cannot participate in the Regular Program due to their daytime work. The program focuses on enhancing communication proficiency, which is essential for business people living in Korea.

This program is a non-extended visa program, so students who could stay in Korea without KLI’s visa documents could apply for the evening program.

3 days a week (Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 6:30PM to 9:05PM
Around 13 students per class
Three university-level academic credits will be given upon successful completion of the requirements.

Summer Program (5 weeks/100 hours)

The Summer Course Program is designed for students who want to experience Korean culture and learn Korean Language during Summer Vacation. The morning classes focus on enhancing Korean proficiency, then in the afternoon you will be able to immerse yourself in local culture. The culture activities after class includes Korean cooking, pottery, Taekwondo, and K-pop dance. Also, students will visit both historical sites and modern attractions.

5 days a week (Monday to Friday) 9AM – 1PM
Daily Korean culture activities after class
Levels: Level 1 – 6
An attendance rate of 80% or higher is required for program completion.

3-Week Program (3 weeks/60 hours)

The 3-Week Program is designed for students who don’t have much vacation but still want to experience Korean culture and learn Korean Language at the same time. This program allows you to enhance your Korean Language skills and combines with the culture activities after class.

5 days a week (Monday to Friday) 9AM – 1PM
Weekly culture activities after class 2PM – 4PM
Levels: Level 1 – 8

Tuition: 1,040,000 Won
Application Fee: $100,000 Won (non-refundable)
No accommodation provided.

Regular Program (10 weeks/200 hours)

The main program of the Ewha focuses on improving the ability to communicate. The four hours of class per day is evenly split between listening, reading, writing and speaking.

Monday to Friday from 9:10AM – 1PM
Four sessions per year (Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter)
6 levels of difficulty/ Level 1 – 6
15 students or fewer per class
With 2 teachers are assigned per class, classes are much more engaging and interesting.

Advanced Program (10 weeks/200 hours)

This course was created for students who are intending to seek admission to undergraduate or graduate university programs in South Korea.

In comparison to Ewha’ advanced program, this course is designed to facilitate the natural acquisition of the necessary grammar, vocabulary, writing skills, knowledge of Korean culture, and other useful information through the study of academic subjects to help student can communicate more efficiently in the academic environment or workplace

Every class is 4-hour long and is combined with news, tv program, trendy issues as learning materials.

Monday to Friday from 9.10AM – 1PM
Four sessions per year (Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter)
Level: Level 7
15 students or fewer per class
Need to pass TOPIK 6 exam, or finish 6th level from Ewha or other Korean language program provided by universities.

The Short Term Program is a customizable course for small groups up to 20 people. It is designed for students who would like to intensively learn Korean Language and Korean Cultures in a short time. This course also allows students to experience various activities such as KPOP dance, Korean culinary, Korean drama, Taekwondo and more.
